DATELINE: ASSUMPTION
William E. Fisher, 85, of Assumption died January 28, 2016, in St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur, IL.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 1, 2016 in Seitz Funeral Home, Assumption. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, January 31, 2016 also in the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption, IL. Memorials may be made to Assumption Public Library or Assumption Fire Protection District.
William was born June 27, 1930, in Radford, IL the son of Ralph and Lorna (Anderson) Fisher. He married Shirley Tex October 20, 1950 in Assumption. She survives.
William was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church of Assumption, where he served as an Elder and Trustee. He served as past Fire Chief and Trustee for the Assumption Fire Department and was one of the founders of SOS Fire Association. William retired from Fisher Spreader Sales after 65 years of service. He served his country in the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict in the Panama Canal Zone.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley; daughters: Pam Garst of Decatur, IL, Diane (Dan) Davis of Assumption, IL, and Kathy (Chip) Banning of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren: Jackie (Phil) Robley of Moweaqua, IL, Amy (Damon) Snow of Clinton, IL, and Drew Banning of Las Vegas, NV; great-grandchildren: Lainey Snow, Bryson Snow and Lauren Robley.
Preceding him in death are his parents, grandson, Chad Banning, son-in-law, Jerald Garst, brother, Eugene Fisher and sister, Ruby Denton.
