Violet J. "Vi" Brown, 77, of Assumption, formerly of Taylorville, died August 30, 2019, in her home.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2019 in Assumption Christian Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Assumption Christian Church or Memorial Medical Center Hospice.
Vi was born June 8, 1942 in Assumption, the daughter of Daniel and Bertha (Black) Wehrle. She married Charles D. Brown, in Taylorville, March 25, 1972. He preceded her in death November 15, 2018.
Though full of pitfalls, burdens and experiences, Vi enjoyed the life God gave her, filled with family, servitude to Jesus through her singing for several years and recording three albums as lead singer in a group called "Vi and the Gospel Vibrations." During these same years, she and husband Charlie became the first man and wife Certified Kitchen Designer (CKD) team in the State of Illinois.
Surviving are her daughters: Renee (Tony) Collebrusco of Taylorville and Tamara Daugherty of San Diego, CA; step-son, David (Diane) Brown of PA; step-daughter, Diane Brown of Taylorville; sisters: Marilyn (Norman) Nicol, Carolyn Jeffries and Vickie Hubbard, all of Assumption.
She leaves behind her beloved dogs, Glory and Faith.
Preceding her in death are her parents, two brothers, and one sister.
