Verne O. Tankersley, 91, of Assumption, died January 15, 2019, one day shy of his 92 ^nd birthday, in Moweaqua Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.

Funeral services, with full military rites, will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 20, 2019 in Seitz Funeral Home, Moweaqua.  Visitation will be from 1:00 – 3:00, prior to service time.  Burial will be in Oddfellows Cemetery, Moweaqua.  Memorials may be made to Fame Evangelical Church.

Verne was born January 16, 1927 in Moweaqua, IL, the son of Warren William and Eva Maude (Osborn) Tankersley.  He married Janet L. Jacobs September 25, 1949 in Moweaqua.

Verne was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He loved the Lord and was a member of Fame Evangelical Church and Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 65, which is currently Local 137.  He proudly served his country in the United States Navy on the ship, USS Power, during WWII.

Surviving is his wife Janet; son, Paul (Paula) Tankersley of Oden, AR; daughter, Aliese (David) Hill of Archbold, OH; son, David (Michelle) Tankersley of Moweaqua, IL; grandchildren: Jacob, Jenae, Caleb, Heather and Alisha Tankersley, Jennifer Throne and Zachary Hill; and ten great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his parents.
