Obituary

V. Gwinner Snyder, 80, of Moweaqua, died July 28, 2020 in his home.

A private family burial, in Ludwig Cemetery, will be at a later date.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 31, 2020 in Seitz Funeral Home, Moweaqua. The family requests that you wear masks and practice social distancing.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Moweaqua or Cancer Care Specialists of Illinois.

Gwinner was born December 23, 1939 in Moweaqua, IL, the son of J. Blanchette and Evelyn L. (Lockart) Snyder.  He married Diane Dagner on February 22, 1959 in Assumption, IL.  She survives.

Gwinner was a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church of Moweaqua, serving on numerous committees and as a Sunday School Teacher.  He was a choir member and also sang with "The Back Row".  Gwinner graduated from Assumption High School in 1958, was an Illinois State FFA Past Treasurer and President, Past President of Moweaqua School Board, Moweaqua Lions Club member and past member of Moweaqua Rotary Club.  He formerly served on the Shelby County Board , Illinois State Farm Bureaus' Young People's Committee and served as Farm Director for WDZQ Radio.  Gwinner also served on the Village of Moweaqua Zoning Board and was currently serving as the Township Supervisor of the Moweaqua Township Board.  He previously worked for Agri-Fab in Sullivan, IL,  Country Companies as an insurance agent, and Central A&M Schools as a school bus driver. Gwinner's first love was farming, which he did for 3o years.

Surviving is his wife, Diane; daughters: Kimberly Diane Snyder of Moweaqua, IL and Elizabeth Anne (Ray) Jackson of Macon, IL; son, Michael Gwinner (Cindy) Snyder of Moweaqua, IL; grandchildren: Amy (Kevin) Zhang, Samantha (Billy Carter) Snyder, Wesley Jackson, Alex Snyder, Bradley (Hannah) Jackson, Hannah Goodrich and sister, Anne Jones of N. Fort Myers, FL.

Preceding him in death are his parents and brothers, Jim and Michael.
