Shawn Phillip Kirkpatrick, 61, of Assumption, IL, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 13, 2021 with his wife by his side at their home.

Private services will be held.  Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery, Assumption, IL.  Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or The Covenant Network.

Shawn was born on July 2, 1959 in Pana, IL, the son of  Rollie and Ruth (Banning)  Kirkpatrick.  He married Luann Romine on October 31, 1981 in Pana, IL.  She survives.

Shawn was a graduate of Pana High School, class of 1977. He loved listening to music and spent most of his time outdoors tending to his garden, flowers, birds, and chickens. He also had a strong devotion to his Catholic faith and listened to Mother Angelica on EWTN Catholic Radio.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Luann (Romine); one son, Neil (Tanya) Kirkpatrick, and two grandchildren, Liam and Tessa, all of Mokena, IL; mother, Ruth Kirkpatrick of Pana; brother, Mark of Urbana, IL; sisters Mindi (Morris) Bertels of Edwardsville, IL; and Laura (Ken) Yagelski of Virginia Beach, VA; mother-in-law, Helen Romine, Pana; sister-in-law, Deb Romine, Pana; brother-in-law, Ron (Kim) Romine of Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.

Shawn was preceded in death by his father, Rollie Kirkpatrick; brother, Curt Kirkpatrick; and father-in-law, George Romine.

Shawn was a light to everyone he met, especially his family. His presence, smile, witty remarks, and positive outlook on life will be missed by all.
