Shawn G. Damery, 53, of Assumption died January 10, 2016, in his home, surrounded by family and friends.

Funeral Mass will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 15, 2016 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Assumption, IL. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, January 14, 2016, also at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Assumption. Memorials may be made to Junior Football League of Assumption & Moweaqua, Casey Williams Foundation or Cancer Care Institute of Decatur.

Shawn was born July 14, 1962 in Taylorville, IL, the son of Merle G. "Moe" and Ann Marie (Duck) Damery. He married Angela Reid January 10, 1981 in Assumption. She survives.

Shawn was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Assumption, Knights of Columbus Assumption Council #1026 and past member of Assumption Fest Committee. He was a former JFL coach, member of the Sassatelli Blues and Assumption Fast Pitch softball teams. Shawn ran the Chicago Marathon in October 1992 and was an avid golfer; having had 3 holes-in-one during his lifetime.

Shawn was a product manager at the GSI group of Assumption, in the Cumberland division, where he was issued a patent for a feeder he developed.

Surviving are his wife, Angela; children: Brent (Kelly) Damery of Taylorville, IL, Bryce (Ashley) Damery of Williamsville, IL, and Alex Damery of Assumption; grandson, Braxton; mother, Ann Marie; sisters: Selena (David) Reed of Assumption, Sabrina (Rob) Bridgman of Assumption, Sonda (Bob) Holthaus of Pana and Sumer (Brian) Sunderland of Assumption.

Preceding him in death is his father, Merle "Moe" Damery.
