Assumption
Sarah Jane Myer, 70, of Assumption, passed away at 2:37 p.m. April 24, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2023 in Assumption First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2023 in Seitz Funeral Home, Assumption. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption. Memorials may be made to Assumption First United Methodist Church.
Sarah was born on February 23, 1953 in Taylorville, IL, the daughter of Clifford J. and Alma Louise "Jane" (Kirk) Myer. She was a graduate of Assumption High School, Lake Land College and Eastern Illinois University. Sarah began her work career with Nabisco in Decatur, IL, with this career she held many positions taking her all over the country and working in the Chicago area and New Jersey. After finishing this career, she then moved to LaVergne, TN to begin the next segment of her career with Shoney's International and finally with AIG Insurance in Nashville, TN, working here until she retired in 2014.
After her retirement she moved back to Assumption, IL where she became an active member of the Assumption Public Library Board, Assumption Woman's Club (President), Central A&M Foundation (Treasurer), Assumption Pride and currently was serving as Chairperson of the Pana Community Hospital.
Sarah was a lifelong member of the Assumption First United Methodist Church where she served on the PPRC in addition, she was a 50+ year member of O.E.S., Tacusah Chapter. Sarah loved to travel, and she and Serena made many trips to Branson, MO throughout the years. In addition, Sarah loved traveling to Florida and spending winter months in Destin/Panama City Beach.
Left to celebrate her life are her sister, Serena (Mike) Honn; niece, Jennifer (Jim) Mohr; nephew, Brent (Carly) Pownall; great-nieces: Emily (Bryan) Birkhead and Zowie (Grant) Jones; great-nephews: Joshua Kauffman and Tucker Pownall; and great-great-nephew, Jace Birkhead.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Clifford and Jane Myer.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Quad County Hospice, Caring Hearts, Assumption EMT's, Ellie Broyles and Joyce Cook for their compassionate care of Sarah.
