Obituary

DATELINE: ASSUMPTION

Samuel Joseph Simon, 90, of Vandalia, IL died March 29, 2013 in St. John's Hospital, Springfield.

Services will be 2:00 pm Friday, April 5, 2013 in the First United Methodist Church of Assumption.

Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until service time.

Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption.

Full Military Honors by Assumption VFW Tacusah Post #6577.

Memorials may be made to Central A & M Education Foundation.

Samuel was born January 21, 1923 in Mt. Sterling, IL the son of Michael J. and Mary M. (Grover) Simon. He married Marilyn Feld in Mt. Sterling, IL in 1951. She survives.

Samuel was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Assumption and Assumption VFW Tacusah Post #6577. He graduated from Mt. Sterling High School and served his country in the Army Air Corp. Samuel taught History at Assumption High School for 26 years.

Surviving are his wife Marilyn; son Michael (Janet) Simon of Eugene, OR; daughter Rebecca DeClerck of Vandalia, IL; grandchildren Abby Bayles, Andy DeClerck, Tim DeClerck and Molly DeClerck Keppler; great-grandchildren Morgan Cripe, Ryan Bayles and Ethan Bayles.

Preceding him in death are his parents, one brother and two sisters.
