Gladys Ruth Rhoades, 99, of Decatur, IL, formerly of Assumption, died April 26, 2026 in The Carriages of Decatur.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2026 in Mt. Pleasant Church of God, Assumption, IL, with a visitation from 10:00 – 12:00, prior to service time.  Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption.  Memorials may be made to Mt. Pleasant Church of God or Meals on Wheels.

Ruth was born on February 23, 1927 in Assumption, IL, the daughter of Samuel and Marie (Baker) Wemple.  She married Cecil B. Rhoades on June 23, 1951, in Walnut Ridge, AR.  He preceded her in death on September 19, 1994.

Ruth was a longtime member of Mt. Pleasant Church of God and dedicated herself to serving others through Meals on Wheels.

Surviving are her daughters, Ramona (Gary) Moore of Maroa, IL and Kathy (Bill) Coleman of Cerro Gordo, IL, four grandchildren, Kim (Ben) Ault, Amy Hines, Zach (Maxie) Coleman and Rachel (Adam) Gensler; and six great-grandchildren, Mazie and Bailee Coleman, Warner and Ellie Ruth Gensler, Carter Ault and Hadley Hines.

Preceding her in death are her husband; parents; brothers, Wayne (Joan) Wemple and Clifford (Joann) Wemple; sisters, Pauline (Paul) Throneburg and Maxine (Cecil) Royer; daughter, Debi Sinclair; and son-in-law, Keith Sinclair.
