Roger L. Stokes, Sr., 77, of Taylorville, IL, died November 8, 2016 in his home.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November, 11, 2016 in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption, IL.

Roger was born September 27, 1939 in Assumption, IL, the son of Kermit W. and Gertrude (Walker) Stokes. He married Loretta E. Stivers in Taylorville, IL on June 29, 1966. She preceded him in death March 17, 2013.

Surviving are his sons: O.E. (Denise) Rightnowar of PA, Philip Rightnowar of Casey, IL and Roger L. (Michelle) Stokes, Jr. of Taylorville, IL; daughters: Cathy (Jeff) Earnest of Greenup, IL and Roxie Grimm of ID.; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; sisters: Carol (Lyle) Giles of Assumption, IL and Tammy Cardwell of Joliet, IL.

Roger served his country in the United States Air Force and was a retired Coal Miner.

Preceding him in death are his wife, parents, son, Gregory Stokes, grandson, Caleb Rightnowar and four brothers.
