Obituary

Robert "Bob" Elmer Miller, 86, of Moweaqua, passed away at 5:05 p.m. February 11, 2025, in St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2025 in First Baptist Church, Moweaqua, with a visitation from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., prior to service time.  Burial, with full military rites, will be in Little Flock Cemetery, Moweaqua.  Memorials may be made to Moweaqua Fireman's Club or First Baptist Church.

Bob was born on September 21, 1938, in Shelby County, IL, the son of Elmer James and Corrine Lucille (Beck) Miller.  He married Jean Wessel on August 8, 1959, together they had two sons, Bob and David. They later divorced and he married Ruth Ann Beckman on September 1, 1972, acquiring two daughters, Cynthia and Caren.  Jeff was born later to complete the family.

Bob graduated from Moweaqua High School and then served in the United States Army.  He worked for Caterpillar Tractor Company, retiring in 1992.  Following his retirement, he started his own mowing service, which he took pride in.

Bob was a member of First Baptist Church of Moweaqua.  Through the years he served as superintendent, Sunday school teacher, Deacon, trustee, custodian, and the TnT Fellowship Group.

Surviving is his wife, Ruth Ann of 52 years; children: Robert (Belinda) Miller of Pana, IL, David (Valerie) Miller of Gays, IL, Jeffrey (Andrea) Miller of Harrisburg, IL, Cynthia Beckman of Assumption, IL, and Caren (Butch Herbord) Radford of Sullivan, IL; grandchildren: Jenny (Bob) Lehn, Jon (Tonya) Miller, Jake Miller, Lydia Miller, Luke Miller, Mark Miller, Isaac Miller, Ethan Miller, Jeremy (Alicia) Miller, Levi (Amy) Miller, Trinity (Derek) Carter, and Trevor (Alex) Poe; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild due in March; sisters: Sharon (Richard) Taylor of Decatur, IL and Debbie (David) Seifert of Moweaqua, IL; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceding him in death are his parents and son-in-law, Mel Radford.
