Robert W.
Jostes
Nov 17, 1936 — Oct 8, 2021
Marysville
Robert William Jostes was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He joined his wife, Marilyn, in heaven on October 8, 2021.
Bob was born on November 17, 1936 to Dale William Jostes and Edna Jostes in Decatur, Illinois. He spent most of his childhood on a farm in Nokomis, Illinois. He joined the Army in 1955, and spent his active duty stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1957, having achieved the rank of Staff Sargent.
Bob married Marilyn Kay Wharton on June 6, 1959 in Nokomis, Illinois. They were married for 55 years before Marilyn's death in 2014.
Bob and Marilyn had three children: Rob, Lori, and Lisa. He was devoted to his family and cared for them lovingly and selflessly. He was a kind and generous man to many, and had good friends for whom he'd do anything.
Once of his proudest achievements was working for Sloan Implement for 45 years until his retirement. Bob probably knew every farmer in a 100-mile radius.
An avid classic car enthusiast, Bob restored both a 1955 Ford Fairlane and a 1966 Mustang convertible. He and Marilyn attended many car shows and brought home many trophies. Bob was a jack of all trades, and master of most. He could repair anything, from cars to refrigerators.
He will be dearly missed by his children, Rob and Terri Jostes of Marysville, OH, Lori Jostes of Winston-Salem, NC, Lisa Jostes and Ida Davis of Rolling Meadows, IL, and his granddaughter, Katie Jostes, of Columbus, OH. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn, his parents, and two brothers, Charles and Gene.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 21 st from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Seitz Funeral Home in Assumption, with a prayer service beginning at 5:00 p.m., prior to the visitation.
