Robert C. Hemer, 87, of Moweaqua, died February 10, 2025, in Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 17, 2025, in Seitz Funeral Home, Moweaqua, with a visitation from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday, February 16, 2025, also in the funeral home.  Burial, with full military rites, will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Moweaqua.  Memorials may be made to Shelby County Farm Bureau Foundation or Moweaqua American Legion Post #370.

Robert was born on January 8, 1938 in Moweaqua, the son of Carl and Elfrieda (Peyton) Hemer.  He married Donna Bryan on November 14, 1959 in Owaneco, IL.  She preceded him in death on June 9, 2022.

Robert served in the United States Army National Guard.  He was member of the Shelby County Farm Bureau since 1960, where he served as president from 2004 -2019. Robert also served on the Moweaqua Fire Department Board and was a member of Moweaqua American Legion Post #370.  Robert was a lifelong farmer and a welder for Mississippi Valley Structural Steel.  In his spare time, he enjoyed relaxing with his family at the Lake of the Ozarks.

Surviving are his son, Doug (Deb) Hemer of Moweaqua, IL; daughter, Jody (Michael) Norman of Washington, IL; grandchildren: Megan, Melissa, Sarah, Bridget, and Brody; and great-grandchildren: Julianna and Parker.

Preceding him in death are his wife and parents.
