Obituary

Robert Dean Adcock passed away April 9, 2025.  Bob was born August 30, 1934 to Eleanor (Reulecke) and Wayne Adcock.  Bob married Joyce (Burton) Adcock on October 21, 1951 and together they built a life centered around faith, farming and family.

Never ones to shy away from hard work, they built their own farming operation while Bob would work for other area farmers for $6 a day and dinner.  Bob was active in the local community of Assumption serving as little league coach and 4-H leader in his younger years and 32 years of service on the Assumption Cooperative Elevator board.  A lifetime member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church he lived out his faith serving as Sunday School teacher and superintendent and board member.  Bob loved watching sports whether that was watching his own kids, then his grandkids or a game of any kind on TV.

Bob, without a doubt, was most proud of this family.  A long tradition of family Christmas gatherings brought a house full to the brim and a smile to Bob's face.  Father of Cheryl (Bob) Gerhold of Moweaqua, Tom (Lesia) Adcock of Assumption, Bob (Sherry) Adcock of Moweaqua, Paul (Elizabeth) Adcock of Stamford, Connecticut and Jim (Jan) Adcock Assumption.  Grandfather to John (Kathy) Gerhold, Dana (Matt) Thomann, Adrian (Adam) Kuffel, Weston Adcock, Justin (Emily) Adcock, Lauren (Jeff) Jackson, Tyler (fiancé Brianna) Adcock, Taylor (fiancé Chad) Adcock, Emma Adcock, Jack Adcock, Ava Adcock, Tamar (Cody) Crum, Taryn (Matt) Johnson, Del (Taylor) Adcock, Dean (Kelsey) Adcock and step grandson Peyton (Hannah) Lees.  Great-grandfather to Audrey Thomann, Lane Thomann, Drew Gerhold, Tighe Kuffel, Talia Kuffel, Cort Crum, Clete Crum, Jaelynn Jackson, Adalynn Jackson, Taytum Adcock and step great-grandson Jett Lees.

Bob is survived by his wife of 73 years, Joyce of rural Assumption and his brother Bill (Marian) Adcock of Phoenix, Arizona.  He was preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Eleanor Adcock, a daughter Debra Ellen and great-granddaughter Kinsley Adcock.

While we mourn our loss, we truly celebrate a life well lived and the legacy Bob leaves.  Services to honor Bob's life will be held on Saturday, April 12 at Memorial Presbyterian Church (Assumption, IL) with viewing from 9 to 11 am and services following at 11.  Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Quad County Hospice at #8 Huber Street, Pana, IL 62557 or the Eleanor Adcock Scholarship at Millikin University in Decatur, IL.
