Robert L. Ashinhurst, 90, of Assumption, died August 26, 2025, in his home.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, August 30, 2025 in Seitz Funeral Home, Assumption, with a visitation one hour prior to service time.  Burial, with full military rites, will be held in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption.  Memorials may be made to VFW Post #6577, Rhodes-France Scout Reservation, or Taylorville Rifle & Pistol Club.

Robert was born on December 8, 1934 in Assumption, IL, the son of Ralph and Merlie (Clark) Ashinhurst.  He married Marilyn D. DeCamp on December 24, 1957 in Decatur, IL.  She survives.

Robert was a member of Taylorville Rifle & Pistol Club, where he served on the Board of Directors for 37 years.  He was also a member of the Assumption VFW Tacusah Post #6577, and formerly served as a troop committee man of Boy Scout Troop #37.  Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Surviving are his wife, Marilyn; son, Mark (Katrina) Ashinhurst of Assumption, IL; granddaughter, Kimberly Dumbauld of Assumption, IL; great-grandchildren: Dez and Furie of Blue Mound, IL; and sister, Jean Askins of Pana, IL.

Preceding him in death are his parents; sister, Marie; granddaughter, Lynne Polette; and half-brother, Thomas Russell.
