Perry J. Barnes, 59, of Assumption, passed away August 4, 2018 in his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2018 in Seitz Funeral Home, Assumption.  There will be a visitation one hour prior to service time.  Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2018 in Seitz Funeral Home, with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Assumption.  Memorials may be made to Assumption Community Pride for St. Jude Runners or Assumption Fire Department.

Perry was born December 9, 1958 in Taylorville, IL, the son of William E. and Rita A. (Demascal) Barnes.  He married Diana L. Garner August 19, 1978 in Decatur, IL.  She survives.

Perry was employed at Grain Systems Inc. in Assumption, IL for 25 years.  He also owned and operated The Dinner Bucket for 22 years.  Perry enjoyed fishing, golfing, camping and spending time with his grandkids.  He enjoyed telling stories and making people laugh.  Perry dedicated many years to Assumption, the town he loved.

Surviving are his wife; sons: Andrew (Kathy) Barnes and Brian (Abigail) Barnes, all of Assumption; daughters: Carrie (Daric) Peadro and Darcy (Caleb) Gerber, all of Shelbyville, IL; grandchildren: Rheagan and Easton Barnes, Theodore and Gabriel Barnes, Hudson and Brynnlee Peadro and Addilynn Gerber; brothers: Paul (Dawn) Barnes of Mackinaw, IL, Pat Barnes of Hinckley, IL, Chris (Pam) Barnes of Simsbury, CT and Curt (Bridgette) Barnes of Hoffman Estates, IL; sisters: Pam (Eric) Donnewald of Springfield, IL, Cheryl (Eldon) Weeks, Cathy (Jerry) Jones and Carol Dance, all of Assumption and Kelly Barnes of Wheaton, IL.

Preceding him in death are his parents; sister, Lisa Anne Barnes and sister-in-law, Linda O'Malley Barnes.
