Michael L. Simmons, 56, of Moweaqua, died April 4, 2019.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, 2019 in First Christian Church of Moweaqua.  Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2019 in Seitz Funeral Home, Moweaqua.  Burial will be in Ludwig Cemetery, Moweaqua.  Memorials may be made to First Christian Church Haiti Missions Team.

Michael was born July 21, 1962 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Pearl and Joan (Nohren) Simmons.  He married Dorothy "Dotty" Mahon May 13, 1989 in Salem, IL.  She survives.

Michael was a member of the First Christian Church of Moweaqua and IBEW Local #146. In addition to being a skilled electrician, Michael was known for his ability to repair and construct almost anything. He enjoyed serving God by using his talents to help with "handy-man" projects for his family and people in the community. He also enjoyed hunting and nature. Michael loved spending time with his family, especially his three granddaughters, whom he called, "Papa's Girls".

Surviving is his wife, Dotty; sons: Ethan (Emily) Simmons of Decatur, IL and Eli Simmons of Taylorville, IL; daughter, Emily (Jordan) Tolly of Moweaqua; granddaughters: Brynna, Blair and Brooke Tolly, all of Moweaqua; brother, Phillip (Cheryl) Simmons of Effingham, IL; sisters: Karen (Rodney) Crouch of Lebanon, IL, Lora (Landon) Sarver of Lebanon, IL and Jennifer Simmons of Sheldon, IL; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
