Michael J. Niemuth, 61, of Alton, IL, formerly of Moweaqua, died June 1, 2023 in Bria of Alton, IL.

Graveside services will be held at 4:30 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2023 in Westside Cemetery, Moweaqua, IL.

Mike was born on March 3, 1962 in Sheboygan, WI, the son of Marvin and Arnetta (Willms) Niemuth.  He was a graduate of Moweaqua High School class of 1980.

Surviving are his brother, Terry (Sophie) Niemuth of Houston, TX and sister, Sharon (Greg) Powel of Moweaqua, IL.

Preceding him in death are his parents; brother, Gary Niemuth; maternal and paternal grandparents; and several aunties and uncles.

Everyone knew Mike for his blond curly hair and small build.  He hated both and always wanted to be tall and normal like his older brothers.  Mike fought addictions and mental illness his entire adulthood.  He turned to living on the streets.  Many of you would see him and give me updates, which I thank you for.  No one wants a family member living like that.  Mike finally was taken off the streets and was living under Heritage for years.  His illness progressed and he developed cancer.  Mike was moved to McFarland in Springfield, IL until his cancer became terminal in November.  He then moved to Bria of Alton, IL.  All of these facilities took very good care of him and our family thanks them so very much.  Mike you are finally at peace.  Smile big and live with the stars.
