Michael "Mike" E.  McLeod, 77, of Pana, IL, died peacefully in his home on October 6, 2023 surrounded by family.

Mike was born on March 7, 1946 in Moweaqua, IL, the son of Cletus J. and Ellen F. (Riley) McLeod.  He married Audrey Metzger on November 10, 1972 in Assumption, IL.  Their marriage of almost 51 years is a true testimony of strength and perseverance, as they handled life's challenges side by side.  She survives.

Mike was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, VFW, and the Knights of Columbus. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and later worked for Caterpillar for thirty years.  Mike enjoyed driving for McLeod Express, woodworking, and hunting and fishing.  He was often found on the sidelines or bleachers of any event his Grandchildren were involved in - he absolutely adored all three of them.  You could always tell what team his son was with at the time, as he was rarely caught without a team hat. He was a hardworking man, faithful husband, dedicated father & brother, doting grandfather and a friend to all who knew him.

Surviving is his wife, Audrey; son, Clete McLeod of Vermillion, SD; daughter, Darsie (Kenny) Sanders of Assumption, IL; grandchildren: Aden, Keegan, and Madelyn Sanders; brothers: Bill (Shirley) McLeod of Moweaqua, IL, James F. McLeod of Assumption, IL, and Kenny (Vivian) McLeod of Moweaqua, IL; and sisters: Pat Barry of Assumption, IL and Karen (Art) Markham of Taylorville, IL.

Preceding him in death are his parents; brother, Joseph; and sister, Maggie.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2023 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Assumption. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time.  Burial, with full military honors, will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Assumption.  Memorials may be made to the Assumption VFW or the Casey Williams Foundation.
