Michael L. Burton, 57, of Assumption, died April 10, 2016, in his home, Assumption, IL.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. April 14, 2016 at Seitz Funeral Home, Assumption, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Assumption Fire Department.

Michael was born November 1, 1958, in Decatur, IL, the son of Joseph and Leota (Stretch) Burton. He married Linda Simmons September 1, 2012 in Assumption, IL.

Michael was a member of Christian County Propbusters, where he was known for breaking a prop or two, and proudly served on the Assumption Fire Department. He had a great knowledge of computer technology and a love of flying remote control planes and helicopters. He was a great mentor and loved to share his knowledge with others; especially, his children and grandchildren. Michael worked as Maintenance Supervisor for GSI of Assumption, IL.

Surviving are his wife, Linda; children: Tierre Knecht (fiancé, Lindsey) and children, Austin and Hannah Lay of Assumption, IL, Dawna (John) Edie and children, Cole and Clay of Auburn, IL, Kevin Brewer of Pawnee, IL, Timothy (Dani) Brewer and daughter, Paisley of Auburn, IL and Kacey Burton and children, Brooklyn and Brady of Assumption, IL; mother, Leota Burton; brothers: Charles "Chuck" (Barbara) Burton of Assumption, IL and Douglas Burton of Los Angeles, CA.

Preceding him in death is his father.

Per Michael's wishes; there will be no graveside service, as he has donated his body to science.
