Merlyn H. Reatherford, 96, of Moweaqua, died June 7, 2019 in Illinois Veterans Home, Quincy, IL.

Funeral services, with full military honors, will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2019 in Seitz Funeral Home, Moweaqua.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service time. Burial will be in Oddfellows Cemetery, Moweaqua. Memorials may be made to Illinois Veterans Home.

Merlyn was born February 12, 1923 in Moweaqua, IL, the son of Sylva and Dena (Drewes) Reatherford.  He married Norma J. Branyan December 21, 1946 in Moweaqua.  She preceded him in death June 9, 2005.

Merlyn was a member of First United Methodist Church of Assumption, Moweaqua VFW,  Moweaqua American Legion Post #370, a founding member of Moweaqua Gun Club and a 50 year member of Moweaqua Rotary Club.  He formerly served as Postmaster for the Moweaqua Post Office and trustee of Flatbranch Township.  Merlyn proudly served his country, in Europe, during WWII with the Army Air Force.

Surviving are his son, Terry (Mary) Reatherford of Moweaqua, IL;  daughter, Dedra (Rick) Hauffe of Moweaqua, IL; grandchildren: Collay (Kent) Kurima of Washington, IL, Sara (Mike) Varner of Whitestown, IN, Brad (Brooke) Reatherford of Normal, IL and Wes (Brittany) Reatherford of Mt. Zion, IL; ten great-grandchildren; and sisters: Bonnie (Joe) Daniel of Charlotte, NC and Sylvia (Ron) Murphy of Florida.

Preceding him in death are his wife, daughter, Debbie,  parents, two brothers and two sisters.
