Melissa A. Shewmaker, 85 of Moweaqua, died December 30, 2016, in Moweaqua Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Monday, January 2, 2017 in First Christian Church of Moweaqua. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Tuesday, January 3, 2017 in Antioch Christian Church, Long Creek, IL. on Rt. 36 East, conducted by Bro. Tim Moore, Pastor Steve DeVore and Pastor Dean Cripe. Burial will be in Oddfellows Cemetery, Moweaqua. Memorials may be made to Antioch Christian Church, Mathetes Philippine Christian Mission or First Baptist Church of Moweaqua.

Melissa was born February 2, 1931 in Moweaqua, IL, the daughter of Bernard E. and Vera Pearl (Myers) Carr. She married William L. Shewmaker June 19, 1949 in Decatur, IL. He preceded her in death February 28, 2005. She later married William Scattergood November 11, 2006 in Moweaqua. He preceded her in death May 11, 2007.

Melissa was a member of Antioch Christian Church of Long Creek, IL, and Charter Oak Club, she also worked with Youth for Understanding for 27 years. Melissa was a homemaker and also worked at Taylor Pharmaceutical Co.

Surviving are her sons: Rodger (Dixie) Shewmaker of the Philippines, Steven (Pamela) Shewmaker and Brent (Tammie) Shewmaker all of Moweaqua; daughter, Judy (Bill) Miller of Moweaqua; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and brother Melvin (Velberta) Carr of Cedar Hill, TN.

Preceding her in death are her parents and two husbands.
