Obituary

Maxine Royer, 94, of Taylorville, IL, passed away peacefully with her children by her side, July 5, 2019 at Life's Journey, Taylorville.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2019 in Seitz Funeral Home, Assumption. Visitation will be from 11:00 -1:00, prior to service time. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Morrisonville or Life's Journey of Taylorville.

Maxine was born August 9, 1924, the second child and daughter of Samuel Mason and Ramona Marie (Baker) Wemple. She grew up on the family farm in Rural Township, Shelby County, IL and was a graduate of Assumption High School. Maxine married Cecil John Royer December 3, 1943 in East Peoria, IL. Cecil and Maxine farmed in the Palmer-Clarksdale, IL, retiring after nearly 40 years. Cecil preceded her in death December 16, 1991.

Maxine was a member of First Baptist Church of Morrisonville, Lady Landowners and a card club. Over the years she was involved with VBS, PTA and 4-H.

Surviving are her children: Judy (John) Wade of Stonington, IL, Jim (Tamara) Royer of St. Joseph, IL, Mary Kohl of Taylorville, IL and Peggy (Dave) Dively of Pontiac, IL; grandchildren: Chris (Amy) Wade, Jim (Melissa) Royer, Justin (Jennie) Royer, Tyson Royer, O J (Julie) Kohl, Doc (Katie) Kohl and Lacey (Calvin) Moy; sixteen great-grandchildren; and sister, Ruth Rhoades of Assumption, IL

Preceding her in death are her husband, parents, grandson Trev Wade, grandson J D Dively, great-grandson John Alan Kohl, son-in-law Doug Kohl, brother Clifford Wemple, sister Pauline Throneburg and brother Wayne Wemple.
