Marilyn J. Smith, 71, of Moweaqua died July 24, 2014 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Services will be 10:30 AM Monday, July 28, 2014 in First Christian Church of Moweaqua.
Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Sunday, July 27, 2014 in First Christian Church of Moweaqua.
Burial will be in Oddfellows Cemetery, Moweaqua, IL.
Memorials may be made to Macon County Humane Society, San Diego Zoo or Kemmerer Village.
Marilyn was born February 2, 1943, in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter of Dale and Imogene (Askins) Donnel. She married Robert M. Smith in Pekin, IL July 21, 1973. He survives.
Marilyn was a member of First Christian Church of Moweaqua. She graduated from ISU and then received her Master's Degree from SIU Carbondale. Marilyn taught at Pekin Community High School, Area Vocational Center and retired from teaching at MacArthur High School. Marilyn was also a professional seamstress. She loved 4-H, animals, arts & crafts and flower gardening.
Surviving are her husband, mother, son Brandon (Corinne) Smith of Taylorville, IL; daughters: Candice (Mark) Garwood of Canton, MI and Carmel (Rick) Witte of San Diego, CA; grandchildren: Eli and Nora Garwood, Logan and Reagan Smith, Rio Witte and brother Kenneth (Amy) Donnel of Findlay, IL.
Preceding her in death is her father.
The family would like to thank Dr. Esparaz, nurses and staff at Cancer Care Specialists and Decatur Memorial Hospital for their kind and loving care.
