Maria Haizeruk, of Assumption, passed away on February 21, 2019 after a remarkable 95 years.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 25, 2019 in Assumption Christian Church.  Visitation will be one hour prior to service time.  Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption, IL. Because of Maria's loving heart and deep faith, memorial contributions may be given in her honor to the American Heart Association or Assumption Christian Church.

Maria was born in the Ukraine on September 25, 1923. She worked in Germany during WWII and came to the United States through the displaced persons program on May 23, 1950.  Her family arrived in New Orleans on June 7 ^th aboard the USS General W.G. Haan.  Maria was proud to be a U.S. Citizen and expressed her gratitude by working hard and caring for those around her.  She has always called Assumption her home.

Maria has left to carry on her legacy daughter, Rhea and son-in-law, Roger Fouts of Assumption, IL and daughter, Nina and son-in-law, William Miller of Ocala, FL.  Maria was so proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Curt and Gilma Fouts and children, Maria, John and Ana of Colorado Springs, CO, Torrey and Jennifer Fouts and children, Hannah and Alexandria of Effingham, IL, Amy and David Mills and children, Allison and Jenny of St. Peters, MO, and Craig (Shanon Brown) Miller and children, Amanda, Amber & Colton of Macon, IL.
