Marcella Eilene Johnston, 93, went to her heavenly home at 8:52pm on December 13th, 2015 surrounded by loved ones at Moweaqua Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Moweaqua, IL.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Friday, December 18th, 2015 in Seitz Funeral Home, Moweaqua. Visitation will be from 5 – 7pm Thursday December 17th, 2015, also in the funeral home. Burial will be in Westside Cemetery, Moweaqua. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Moweaqua or Moweaqua Ambulance Service.
Marcella E Johnston was born to the late Willis & Eda (Curdt) Gillett on September 21, 1922. She was one of seven children. She married Roy Ray Johnston in Springfield, IL on August 29th, 1945 and they were married for 59 years until he preceded her in death on December 7th, 2004.
Marcella was a devout member of First Baptist Church of Moweaqua and was recently celebrated as the longest attending and oldest member of the congregation. Her most prized earthly treasure was her family. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved watching the Fighting Illini. She loved sharing her love for country music and polka music with her grandchildren.
Marcella is survived by Tony (Tammy) Johnston of Assumption, Mary Marie (Roger Parks) Maurer of Moweaqua, Arlena House of Moweaqua. Grandchildren Michael House of Moweaqua, Ashley Johnston of Decatur and Ryan Johnston of Assumption. Also survived by her pride and joy her great grandson, James Ray Johnston of Assumption.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 5 brothers and one sister.
