Lyle Everett Giles, 83, of Assumption, IL, died December 14, 2025 at the home of his daughter.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 in Mt. Pleasant Church of God, Assumption. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Assumption. Memorials may be made to the Assumption Fire Department or Assumption Ambulance Service.  A meal will follow in the Giles Fellowship Hall.

Lyle was born on November 5, 1942, in Decatur, IL, the son of Rev. C. Everett and Beulah (Bledsaw) Giles.  He married his high school sweetheart & love of his life, Carol Stokes on February 5, 1960, in Assumption, IL.  She preceded him in death on October 23, 2024.

Lyle was a devoted member of Mt. Pleasant Church of God. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals & Illini basketball fan. He also found joy in bird watching and devoting time to his beloved banana trees. Lyle spent his entire career in the grocery business, serving in many roles over the years. He was especially known for sharing stories and homemade sweet treats, including his famous fudge with those around him.

Surviving are his daughter, Lori Giles (Daniel Gordon) of Assumption, IL, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his wife, Carol; parents; son, Bob; and brothers: Richard, Bill, and Jerry.

Lyle will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
