Obituary

Lisa Ann Miller-Welton was born on September 5, 1965 in Rome, Georgia, the first child of Brenda (Darby) Miller of Rome, GA and Daniel Miller of Assumption, IL.  Lisa died in her home in Wood River, IL on Monday, October 6th, 2025.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 17, 2025 in Seitz Funeral Home, Assumption, IL. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service time.  A private burial in St. Mary's Cemetery will be held at a later time.  Memorials may be made to Give Kids the World.

Lisa had some challenges in her life – most especially a diagnosis of stage IV tongue cancer at the age of 23.  The doctors were not optimistic at the time but Lisa proved them wrong again and again.  Lisa had one year old, Zachary, when she was diagnosed and ended up having two more children, Jacob and Sarah.  The kids and family and friends kept her going during the hard times.  Eventually, Lisa was blessed with two granddaughters, Annelise and Kamryn and two grandsons, Everett and Lincoln, and they all were her pride and joy.

Lisa was an extremely talented quilter – gifting so many beautiful quilts to her family and to Project Linus.  We are a family that should never be cold!

Lisa is survived by her son Zachary (Amber) Welton of Billings, Montana, son Jacob Welton of Peoria, IL, daughter Sarah (Scott) Miner of Wood River, IL, father Daniel (Tina) Miller of Decatur, IL, sister Shannon (Eric) Nail of Macon, IL, furry niece, Shadow, many aunts, uncles and cousins and the sunshines of her life, Annelise and Kamryn Welton of Billings, MT and Everett and Lincoln Miner of Wood River IL.

She was preceded in death by several family members, most notably, grandma Onerine Miller, mom Brenda Turner, and stepdad Bill Turner.  We can imagine the reunion they are all having right now!!

We would like to thank Sarah Miner and her family for taking such wonderful care of Lisa these past few years which allowed her to live at home until her death, Dr. Steven Sobol, who saved her life and cared for her until his retirement, and the too numerous to name doctors and nurses who did their best to keep Lisa with us for as long as possible.

In honor of Lisa's favorite color, we ask that everyone wear purple to the service (or even if you can't be with us – make Friday, October 17th a purple day in her honor!!).
