Obituary

Lee H Coffman 85 of Moweaqua died Thursday (Feb. 7, 2013). A service to celebrate Lee's life will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday (Feb 12, 2013) at Seitz Funeral Home Moweaqua Illinois. Visitation will be 5:00 - 8:00 PM Monday (Feb. 11, 2013). Burial will be in Westside Cemetery, Moweaqua, Illinois, with Military Rites.

Lee was born on November 9, 1927 in the Moweaqua Hospital, the son of Verne H. Coffman and O. Josephine (Adamson) Coffman. He graduated from Moweaqua High School in the class of 1945. He worked in his family businesses, the Coffman Mill and Lyric Theater. Lee served in the US Navy aboard the USS Sequatchie and USS Mount Olympus where he was the ships post master. He is a veteran of both World War II and Korea. After returning home, he worked for a short time in the Moweaqua post office.

Lee married Jo Ann Eversole on May 4, 1956 at Fame Church in Moweaqua. They celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary last May. In 1955 he went to work for the Decatur Herald and Review as a Journeyman Apprentice Printer and retired in 1992 after 37 years of service. Lee was a member of Fame Church, 65 year member of the American Legion, a proud member of the NRA, and Bass Angler Sportsman Society. He was also a member of the Moweaqua 45'ers and The John A. Morrison Appalachian Group.

Lee loved the outdoors and nature. He was an avid fisherman and like to hunt and trap. He also enjoyed bowling and golf. He was most honored to serve on the committee for the Moweaqua Veterans Memorial. He spent hours calling over the United States searching for the Moweaqua people who had served. He was also one of Moweaqua's great historians and shared many of his memories of the town's past. Lee worked with the State Historical Society to bring the Looking for Lincoln memorial that honors his great grandfather Ephraim Adamson who was a bodyguard for President Lincoln to Moweaqua.

Surviving his wife Jo Ann Coffman of Moweaqua, daughter: Debra Rainey of Decatur, son: Rodney (Karen) Coffman of Decatur, granddaughter Abigail (Mike) Netterville of Decatur, and great grandson to be born in June. Also leaves Sue Fustin whom he considered a daughter and special friends Larry and Janet Morrell who are angels on earth, furry friends who brightened his days Cadbury and Sammie.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
