Katherine Louise Etherton, 68, of Merritt Island, FL, formerly of Mt. Zion, IL, died September 26, 2022 in her home.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 2022 in Masonic Cemetery, Moweaqua, IL.  Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Alzheimer's Association.

Katherine was born on June 5, 1954 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Jesse and Nancy (Baker Schmahl) Hocker.  She married F. Dean Etherton on June 10, 1972 in Blue Mound, IL.  He survives.

Katherine was affiliated with Calvary Chapel of Viera, FL and formerly worked in the insurance industry.

Surviving are her husband; children: Consuelo (Todd) Pierce of Merritt Island, FL and Colby (Dawn) Etherton of Concord, NC; father, Jesse (Ruthie) Schmahl; grandchildren: Kyle (Mallory) Pierce, Jasmine Pierce, Austin Etherton, Landon Etherton, Jaymeson Etherton, Ayden Etherton, and Kami Etherton;  great-grandchildren: Prudence Pierce, Millie Pierce, and Wells Pierce; brothers: Jesse "Buck" (Louise) Schmahl of rural Macon, IL and Wayne (Dixie) Schmahl of Moweaqua, IL; and sister, Phyllis Ann (John) Mariner of Divernon, IL.

Preceding her in death is her mother, Nancy Hocker.
