Joseph Martin Gould, 68, of Assumption, died July 17, 2023 in his home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2023 in Seitz Funeral Home, Assumption.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time, also in the funeral home. The family requests that those who attend wear casual attire.  Burial will be held in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Assumption.  Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.

Joseph was born on May 25, 1955 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of James and Helen A. (Martz) Gould, Sr.  He married Karen Rhodes on November 27, 1974 in Shelbyville, IL.  She survives.

Joseph worked as a welder for Circle Steel for 9 ½ years and most recently for GSI, where he was employed for 28 years.  He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his kids and grandkids, whom he loved dearly.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Karen; daughter, Mandy (Derek) Bradshaw of Decatur, IL; sons: Chris (Heidi) Gould of Pana, IL, Joseph (Nicole) Gould of Pocahontas, IL and Josh (Rachael) Gould of Dalton City, IL; grandkids: Jacob Bradshaw, Ryan Gould, Addison Gould, Wyatt Gould, Mackenzie (Nathan) Peery, Landon Gould and Amelia Gould; brother, James (Janet) Gould, Jr. of Pana, IL; and sister, Julie (Mike) Tucker of Findlay, IL.

Preceding him in death are his parents and sister, Janet Patrick.
