Jon R. Lowrance, 68, of Assumption, died September 3, 2017, in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield, IL.

Funeral service, with Masonic Services and Military Rites, will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 10, 2017, in Seitz Funeral Home, Assumption. Visitation will be from 12:00- 3:00, prior to service time. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption, IL. Memorials may be made to Masonic Lodge Scholarship Fund or Reach Out Recovery.

Jon was born April 30, 1949, in Pana, IL, the son of Orlando G. and Alice N. (McCloy) Lowrance. He was a 1967 graduate of Assumption High School and a member of Owaneco Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge Bromwell #451, serving as former and current Grand Master, Eastern Star and American Legion Post #284. Jon served in the United States Army and was retired from Caterpillar, Inc., where he worked for 31 years. He was also retired as Chief of Police for the City of Assumption and served in law enforcement for over 45 years.

Surviving are his daughters: Tricia (Cheri) Lowrance of Taylorville, IL and Traci (Todd) Ater of Assumption, IL; grandchildren: Drew Longbrake, Justice and Jadon Ater, all of Assumption; brother, Jerry Lowrance of Assumption, IL; sisters: Jane (Rick) Oberbroeckling of Dubuque, IA and LeAnn (Tony) Kersey of Taylorville, IL; and many nephews & nieces.

Preceding him in death are his parents; brother, "Duffy" Lowrance; and sister, Lisa Hartnell.
