John H. Parker, 86, of Moweaqua, IL, died August 23, 2023 in Mt. Zion Health and Rehab Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2023 in Seitz Funeral Home, Moweaqua.  Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., prior to service time.  Burial will be in Traughber Cemetery, Moweaqua. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.

John was born on June 28, 1937 in Decatur, IL, the son of Elmo and Monona (Pleasant) Parker.  He married Mary Jo McPeak on June 25, 1955 in Moweaqua, IL.  She preceded him in death on May 12, 1991. He later married Beverly JoAnn Herzog on February 25, 1992 in Las Vegas, NV.  She preceded him in death in 2019.

John was a member of First Christian Church of Moweaqua.  He was retired from Caterpillar, a former police officer for the Village of Moweaqua and volunteer for the Moweaqua Fire Department.

Surviving are his sons: Rex (Janet) Parker of Park Ridge, IL and Randy (Stacey) Parker of Sacramento, CA; daughters: Carol (Bunky) Slaw of Decatur, IL and Cheryl (Randy) Mitchell of Moweaqua, IL; step-sons: Brad Herzog of Pawnee, IL and Brett (Jerri Lynn) Herzog of Morris, IL; step-daughter, Bridgett (Aaron) Wake of Springfield, IL;    grandchildren:  Craig (Japorn) Mitchell, Cole (Rachel) Mitchell, Connor (Ashlyn) Mitchell, Trisha (Michael) Blaisure, Brittany (Scott) Heidemann, Jared Parker, Rachel (Luay) Almassalha, Mackenzie Parker, Lauren Wake, Brianna Wake, Brittney (Rick) Keafer, Kira Samson, Karlee (Josh) McCollum, Hunter Herzog and twenty great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his parents; wife, Mary Jo; wife, JoAnn; three brothers; and two sisters.
