John J Jones, 70, of Moweaqua died April 1, 2014 at home.

Services will be 11:00 am Saturday, April 5, 2014 in Seitz Funeral Home, Assumption, IL.

Visitation will be from 9 am until service time, Saturday.

Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption, IL

Memorials may be made to Assumption Historical Society or Assumption Fire & Ambulance Service.

John was born October 27, 1943 in Taylorville, IL the son of Ralph Thomas and Bernice (Nein) Jones. He married Jeanne Weaver in Assumption, IL, July 27, 1975. She survives.

John was the co-owner of Motion Raceway of rural Moweaqua from 1970-1983, at which time it closed. He was a farmer, carpenter, brilliant craftsman and inventor. He was a devoted family man and served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam.

Surviving are his wife; son Jeffery J of Scottsdale, AZ; grandson Gavin Thomas; brother Paul R. (Sharon) Jones of Decatur, IL; sisters, Carol Ann (Don) Butler of Findlay, IL, Sandy (Jim) Powers of Wirt, MN; sisters-in-law, Lois Jones of Pana, IL and Deema Jones of Decatur, IL.

Preceding him in death are his parents; brothers, Ralph David "Speed" Jones and Robert A Jones.
