Mary Joan "Joann" Sloan, 88, of Assumption died August 3, 2016 in her home.
Private graveside services will be Saturday, August 6, 2016 in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption. Close friends and family are invited to the Lazy S Timber for a "Celebration of Life" and lunch at noon. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
Joann was born May 10, 1928 in Assumption, IL, the daughter of Paul and Clella (DeVore) Uffelman. She married Dale E. Sloan October 5, 1946 in Assumption. He survives.
Joann was a member of Assumption First United Methodist Church and Tacusah Chapter OES. She was a former 4-H Leader and Superintendent of Sunday School. Joann loved quilting, sewing, knitting and painting with oils and towle designs. She was also an avid gardener, loved cooking and enjoyed playing bridge.
Surviving is her husband, Dale; daughters, Marilyn (Ken) Sloan-Couch of Roanoke, IL and Cinda Kistenfeger of Tower Hill, IL; Grandchildren, Heather Tarvin of Atlanta, GA, Courtney Just of Stonington, IL, Cami Kistenfeger of Decatur, IL and Colby Kistenfeger of Clinton, IL; and great-grandchildren, Cora Tarvin, Caleb Just and Addi Just.
Preceding her in death are her parents and one brother.
