Jessie J. Chapman, 83, of Moweaqua, passed away August 16, 2016 in Heritage Manor, Pana, IL, surrounded by her family.

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 19, 2016 in Oddfellows Cemetery, Moweaqua. Visitation will be from 10 – 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 19, 2016 in Seitz Funeral Home, Moweaqua. Memorials may be made to Prairie Cardiovascular of Decatur.

Jessie was born September 7, 1932 in Mt. Vernon, IL, the daughter of Pleasant and Goldie Mae (Harvey) Minor. She married Harold I. Chapman June 19, 1948 in Mt. Vernon. He preceded her in death January 6, 1994.

Surviving are her sons, Bruce (Diana) Chapman of Moweaqua and Melvin (Cheryl) Chapman of Emily, MN; daughter, Brenda (Gary) Huddlestun of Moweaqua; grandchildren, Michele (Frank) Martin, Brian (Shannon) Chapman, Amy (Nathan) Morrison and Jason (Cassie) Chapman; great-grandchildren, Roxanne, Tisha, Ashley, Cody, Lily, Hannah, Colby and Maryssa; 3 great-great grandchildren; sister, Frieda Whitehouse of Clinton, IL. and nephew, Bob (Sherry) Chapman of Clinton, IL.

Jessie would light up when you talked about any of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She took pride in her family and was always there for them. When writing this obituary, one begins to realize how many memories begin and end with Jessie. There is so much more to say. We have been truly blessed to have been touched and loved by such a special person and she will be missed, but not forgotten. "Love you a bushel & a peck & a hug around the neck."

Preceding her in death is her husband, parents, brother, David Minor and special brother, Hulen "Hoot" Minor and a great-grandchild.
