Jeff was born on September 4, 1956 in Carson City, MI, the son of Gordon W. and Wilma I. (Gavitt) Shoen. He married Diane M. Haas on August 18, 1979 in Nauvoo, IL. She survives.

Jeff was a skilled carpenter and his creations are showcased in the homes and businesses of many family and friends. There was not anything Jeff could not do but what he loved most of all was his family, especially those that called him Papa.
