Janet S.
Branyan
Nov 29, 1942 — Jun 4, 2025
Assumption
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Janet Branyan, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who left us peacefully on June 4, 2025 at the age of 82.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Seitz Funeral Home, Assumption, with a visitation beginning one our before. Burial will be held in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption. Memorials may be made to Central A&M FFA. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend and honor the incredible woman she was.
Janet was born on November 29, 1942, in Mt. Auburn, IL the daughter of Rolland H. and Ellen E. (Baillie) Coffey. She married Dale Richard Branyan on December 21, 1961, in Assumption, IL. He preceded her in death on May 1, 1997.
Janet was the heart of our family — a woman known for her strength, selflessness, and unwavering love. She dedicated her life to caring for others and found joy in the simple things: tending to her plants, baking her famous sugar cookies, and gathering her loved ones around the kitchen table. She had a deep love for cooking, baking, and creating a home that was always warm and welcoming.
To know Janet was to be known, heard, and loved. She was an incredible listener, a wise advice-giver, and for many, a best friend. Her laughter was contagious, her hugs were healing, and her door was always open.
She is survived by her children: Jim (Chelli) Branyan of Assumption, IL, John (Jill) Branyan of Decatur, IL, and Lori (Robert) Wolfe of Chatham, IL; grandchildren: Blair (Wes) Chapple of Baylis, IL, Bailey (Justin) Haynes of Moweaqua, IL, Bradi (Dustin) Cornwell of Assumption, Beau Branyan of Assumption, and Sydney (Caleb) Striegel of Oxford, MS; nine great-grandchildren; brothers: Paul (Brenda) Coffey of Blue Mound, IL, Melvin (Barb) Coffey of Fort Mill, SC, Nathan (Cathy) Coffey of Decatur, IL, and Richard (Jamie) Coffey of Alpha, IL; and sisters: Carolyn Scroggins of Cape Coral, FL, Diana Grobosky of Kincaid, IL, Becky Smith of Lincoln, IL, Barbara (Don) Vespa of Wichita, KS, and Melissa (Kevin) Mariconi of Taylorville, IL, all of whom carry her spirit in their hearts. Her legacy lives on in the traditions she started, the lessons she taught, and the love she poured into every moment.
Janet taught us how to be strong without needing to be loud, how to give without expecting, and how to love without limits. She leaves behind a family deeply grateful for the time we had with her — and a lifetime of memories that we will cherish forever.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Dale; parents; son, Darrell; brothers: Rolland and Keith; and sister, Mary.
