James Stanley "Stan" Byard, 70, of Moulton, TX, died December 31, 2020, in Houston Methodist West Hospital.
Private funeral services will be held. Burial will be in Westside Cemetery, Moweaqua, IL. Memorials may be made to Best Friends Animal Society or the SADS Foundation (Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndromes) in care of Seitz Funeral Home, 118 E. Main, Moweaqua, Illinois, 62550.
Stan was born August 10, 1950, in Decatur, IL, the son of Ellis and Dorothy (Foreman) Byard. He married Katherine A. Adams on October 9, 1969, in Moweaqua. Stan was the owner of Texas Sprinklers, a landscape/irrigation company. He retired in 2012 and became a full-time rancher. Stan raised cattle but his passion was raising birds: chickens, turkeys, peacocks, and guineas. Stanley loved animals, and with Katherine frequently rescued animals including calves, dogs, cats, and horses. Stanley also pursued his love for carpentry and woodworking. He had patience and special talents to make or build anything. Together, Stan and Katherine built their home.
Surviving are his wife, Katherine; daughter, Jamie (Robert) Regan of Katy, TX; his favorite person in the whole world his granddaughter, Ann Margaret Regan; and sister, Kay (Carroll) Scrogin of Moweaqua, IL; and several nieces and a nephew.
Preceding him in death are his parents, one brother, and one sister.
