James E. "Jim" Davis, 82, of Assumption, died August 18, 2015, in Heritage Manor, Pana, IL.

Private family graveside service will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption, IL. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Friday, August 21, 2015 in First United Methodist Church of Assumption.

Jim was born January 21, 1933 in Cold Springs Twp. Shelby Co. IL, the son of Joseph and Edna (Henson) Davis. He married Jeanette M. Gallee in Mt. Prospect, IL. October 14, 1961. She survives. Jim was a Master Technician in Auto Repair since 1962. He was a licensed Chauffer, an avid bluegrass musician and a member of Illinois Valley Blacksmith Association.

Surviving is his wife, Jean; sons: James (Jane) Davis of Pana, IL, Charles (Brenda) Davis of Pana, IL and Fred (Sherry) Davis of Assumption, IL; daughters: Laura (John) Mentzer of Assumption, IL, Rosemary (Rocky) Adams of Lincoln, IL, Elisabeth Gunter of Vandalia, MO and Joanna (Doug) Jones of Tower Hill, IL; 23 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers: Robert (Virginia) Davis of Mountain Home, AR and Joseph Davis of Bingham, IL; sisters: Thelma Harshbarger of Wedgefield, SC, Marion (Don) Bryant of Hawesville, KY and Roseann (Larry) Stein of Herrick, IL.

Preceding him in death are his parents; brother, Walter Davis; sister, Mary Miller, and 2 grandchildren.
