James  DeWhitt Calkins, Jr., of Assumption, formerly of Texas, died June 1, 2022 at his residence.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2022 in Seitz Funeral Homes, Assumption.  Memorials may be made to the Family of James Calkins, Jr. thru Seitz Funeral Home.

James was born on  February 28, 1962 in Tacoma, WA, the son of James DeWhitt and Annie Janelle (Simonton) Calkins, Sr.

James was married to  Monica Wicker for 18 years and was married September 18.

James was affiliated with Assumption Christian Church and was a member of the Moose Lodge and Pana Sportsman Club.  He worked as a machine operator for GSI in Assumption.

Surviving are his wife, Monica; children: Derek Calkins of Texas, Melissa (Dylan) Schoedel of Texas, Courtney (Paul) Milton of Alabama, and Tristan Stewart of Arizona; grandchildren: Caliber, Silas, and Phoenix; along with Vinnie Palmer and Taylor Palmer which he felt as a Grandparent figure.  A Sister-in-law Prischilla Neal of Assumption, plus four Nieces , Aunts, Uncles, Cousins residing in Texas and many dear friends.

Preceding him in death are his parents and sister Linda D. Calkins.
