Gertrude A. "Gertie" Hayden, 79, of Moweaqua, died October 25, 2021, in her home.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 28, 2021 in Seitz Funeral Home, Moweaqua.  Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 27, 2021, also in the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Moweaqua Food Pantry.  Burial will be in Prairie Home Cemetery, Moweaqua.

Gertie was born on April 10, 1942 in Moweaqua, IL, the daughter of Arthur Clark and June (Pope) Pierce.  She married Richard Hayden on January 1, 1967 in Moweaqua.  He survives.

Gertie was a member of Sanner Chapel United Methodist Church of Moweaqua and a past member of Moweaqua Lions Club.  She drove a school bus for Central A&M Schools, was active in Peace Meals, volunteered at the Moweaqua Food Pantry, was a church organist and an avid Central A&M sports fan. Gertie loved to follow her kids and grandkids in their activities.

Surviving is her husband, Richard; children: John (Jane) Hayden of Clinton, IL, David (Jonathan) Hayden of Tempe, AZ and Beth Hayden of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren: Kaitlin, Garrett and Erik Hayden of Clinton, IL; and sister, Marie Gillette of Moweaqua, IL.

Preceding her in death are her parents and brother, Louis D. Pierce.
