George Michael "Mike" Blades, 77, of Moweaqua, died May 13, 2025, in St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur, IL.

Funeral Mass services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2025 in St. Frances de Sales Catholic Church, Moweaqua, with a visitation one hour prior to service time.  Burial, with full military rites, will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Moweaqua.  Memorials may be made to Central A&M Bass Team or St. Frances de Sales Catholic Church.

Mike was born on January 12, 1948 in Decatur, IL, the son of Paul G. and Jacqulin (Pryor) Blades.  He married Marcia Murray on December 16, 1972 in Moweaqua, IL.  She survives.

Mike was a member of St. Frances de Sales Catholic Church of Moweaqua, Moweaqua VFW Post #2705, Moweaqua American Legion Post #370, and Knight of Columbus Council #1026 of Assumption.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army, serving two tours in Vietnam.  Mike was a retired electrician from Wagner Castings.

Mike loved fishing, hunting, and spending time with family. He was a loving husband and father. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. His love for them was immense. Mike will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

Surviving are his wife, Marcia; daughter, Theresa (Jason) Denton of Moweaqua; son, Chad (Nona) Blades of Moweaqua; grandchildren: Kaitlyn Denton, Peyton (fiancée, Abby Herbert) Denton, and Ellis Blades; and brother, Howard "Mitch" Blades of Moweaqua.
