Gene E. Denton, 75, of Moweaqua died June 27, 2017 in his home.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2017 in Seitz Funeral Home, Moweaqua. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to Central A&M Sports Program or Moweaqua Golf Course.

Gene was born March 24, 1942 in Moweaqua, the son of Ralph and Margaret (Wise) Denton. He married Sharon Schinzler August 25, 1961 in Moweaqua. She survives.

Surviving are his wife, Sharon; sons: Tracy (Mary) Denton of Decatur, Troy (Anna) Denton of Moweaqua and Todney Denton of Moweaqua; grandchildren: Ann, Tom, Mikayla, McKenna, Nadine, Nicole, Anastasia, Naomi, and Savannah; great-grandchildren: Isaac, Ivan and Ary; brother, John (Reva) Denton of Moweaqua; sisters: Betty (Delmar) Craft and Linda Houchins, all of Moweaqua; brothers-in-law, Hal (Mary) Schinzler and Merlin (Sue) Schinzler. Also surviving are his "Best Golfing Buddies": Dave Morris, Ted Workman, Ken Hall and Jerry Collins.

Gene was retired from Mueller Company where he worked as Supervisor for over 45 years. He was an avid Cardinal fan & golfer. He doted on all of his grandkids, and loved watching his twins play in any and all sports.

Preceding him in death are his parents; brother, Fred; sister, Peggy and father & mother-in-law, Hal and Geri Schinzler.
