Francis P. "Frank" Maher, 68, of Moweaqua, died September 26, 2017, in Vermillion County.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 225 E. Warren St., Moweaqua, IL.

Frank was born October 4, 1948 in Orange, New Jersey, the son of James and Emily (Chalus) Maher. He was a thinker, a teacher, and a Vietnam Veteran who served in the United States Army. Frank was a member of St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church of Moweaqua and the Knights of Columbus. He was also very active in the recovery community.

Frank is survived by his partner of over 20 years, Pamala Maples of Moweaqua; sons: Sean (Noelle) Maher of El Cerrito, CA; Brian (Stefani) Maher of South Orange, NJ; daughter, Kimberly (Bill) Shaw of York, PA; grandchildren: Ashley, William, Emerson and Quinnlin; brother, James (Patricia) Maher of Sparta, NJ; sisters: Lee Van Sickle of Clawson, MI, Marguerite McCoy of Califon, NJ, Mary Maher of Clearfield, PA and Barbara (Don) Allen of St. Paul, MN; Joseph (Ann Marie) Maher of Sandy Hook, CT, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Frank is also survived by his step-children: Rick (Bobbi) Maples, Lisa (Dale) Robling, Greg (Jen) Maples, Jill (Shane) Snearly; and step-grandchildren: Jeff (Ally) Wise, Samantha Wise, Mikah and Jeske Maples; Marissa, Kylee, and Dalton Snearly; Lilly Wise, Tyler Aydt and Kalee Stoutenborough.

Preceding him in death are his parents.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take 15 minutes to connect with someone in your life in need and find a way to help them in some small way, as Frank would have.
