Elsie J. Escobar, 89, of Decatur, died January 1, 2025 in Hickory Point Christian Village, Forsyth, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2025 in Seitz Funeral Home, Moweaqua, with a visitation one hour prior to service time. Burial will be in Westside Cemetery, Moweaqua.  Memorials may be made to Memorial Health Hospice or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, c/o Seitz Funeral Homes, 118 E. Elsie was born on January 7, 1935 in Sullivan, IL, the daughter of Albert R. and Lois (Arterburn) Bowen.  She married Paul D. Hopkins in Patoka, IL on June 1, 1952 and later married Rudy V. Escobar in Decatur, IL on October 21, 1989.

Elsie loved tending to her flower beds, reading, cooking and following her grandchildren's activities.  Her family brought her the greatest joy in life.

Surviving are her children: son, Richard (Lauren) Hopkins of Warrenton, MO, and daughters, Susan Paradee of Moweaqua, IL and Patricia Woley of McLeansboro, IL; eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Preceding her in death are her parents and her husband, Rudy V. Escobar.
