Donald Eugene Butler, 89, of Forsyth, formerly of Findlay, died October 8, 2026, in his home, surrounded by family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2026 in Seitz Funeral Home, Assumption. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2026, also in the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption. Memorials may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital.

Donald was born on September 8, 1937 in Decatur, IL, the son of Caradine J. and Frances (Disney) Butler. He was previously married to Carolyn Bartley and later married Carol Jones Storey on June 29, 1979 in Assumption, IL.

Donnie was a member of Assumption Presbyterian Church, Operating Engineers Local 965, and the Shriners. From the ages of five until seventeen, he was treated at Shriners Children’s Hospital in St. Louis for polio. Donnie enjoyed snowmobiling with his buddy, Jim, fishing, and woodworking. He will be remembered for his warm, affectionate smile, friendly disposition, and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Surviving are his wife, Carol, son, Dan (Jodi) Butler of Mt. Zion, IL, daughter Angela (Kurt) Hoch of Decatur, IL, step-daughter, Debra (Dan) Warren of Bolingbrook, IL, fourteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and sister, Carol (Tom) Yelverton of Tucson, AZ.

Preceding him in death are his parents, two step-daughters, and a granddaughter.
