Dale E. Knapp, Sr., 87, of Moweaqua, died August 31, 2018 in St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur, IL.

Funeral services, with Full Military Rites, will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 6, 2018 in Seitz Funeral Home, Assumption. Visitation will be from 4:00- 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2018, also in the funeral home.  Elks Rites will follow at 7:00 p.m.  Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption. Memorials may be made to Assumption VFW Tacusah Post #6577 or Disabled American Veterans.

Dale was born October 8, 1930 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Harvey and Goldie (Landers) Knapp.  He married Virginia Smith August 29, 1951 in Shelbyville.  She preceded him in death February 19, 2005.

Dale was a member of Assumption VFW Tacusah Post #6577 and Pana Elks Lodge #1261.  He proudly served his county in the United States Army during the Korean War.  Dale was a farmer. He was employed by Richard and Barb Gregory for 43 years and considered them family.

Surviving are his son, Dale (Beth) Knapp, Jr. and daughters: Jackie (Alan) Mahone, Gena Snow and Diane Cutler (companion, Robin Kean) all of Assumption, IL; eleven grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his parents, four brothers, four sisters and son-in-law, Ed Snow.
