Clarence Jr. Cushing, 83, of Assumption, died September 8, 2023 in HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham, IL.

Graveside services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 11, 2023 in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption, IL.  Memorials made be made to Christian County Humane Society or Boy Scouts of America Troop #106.

Clarence was born on November 15, 1939 in Bethany, IL, the son of Clarence A. and Velma (Pruitt) Cushing, Sr.  He married Brenda Litz on December 29, 1961 in Pana, IL.  She survives.

Clarence liked old race cars, hunting, trapping and fishing.  He was a gun collector and a big time St. Louis Cardinals fan.  Clarence liked to bowl in leagues and play softball and baseball.  He was involved with the Boy Scouts of America Troop #106.

Surviving is his wife, Brenda; daughters: Virginia (Todd) Hegardt of Pana, IL and Rita West of Nokomis, IL; son, Clarence Edward (Christina) Cushing of Witt, IL; grandchildren: Anastassios (Susan) Ziros, Alexander (Savana) Ziros, Cody (Shawnee) West, Vanessa Cushing, Conner Cushing, Anthony Cushing, Michael Merriam and Kazz Friend; and nine great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his parents; brother, Alfred Cushing; sister, Martha Shanks; and son-in-law, Jerry West.
