Clara M. Bilyeu, 99, of Assumption, formerly of Taylorville, IL, died August 11, 2024 in Carriage Crossing, Taylorville, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2024 in First United Methodist Church, Assumption. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service time. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption.  Memorials may be made to Eastern Star Assumption Tacusah Chapter or Shriners Children's Hospital.

Clara was born on May 15, 1925 in Odon, IN, the daughter of William M. and Clara A. (Edwards) Christenberry  She married Alfred T. Bilyeu on April 22, 1945 in the First United Methodist Church of Assumption.  He preceded her in death on February 6, 2015.

Clara was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Taylorville, IL and the Order of the Eastern Star.  She taught piano for 45 years and loved to quilt, sew and needle point.  She formerly worked for the First Trust Bank in the farm management department, Miller Implement, and the Assumption Garment Factory.

Surviving are her sons: James (Judy) Bilyeu of Bella Vista, AR and Mark (Lorie) Bilyeu of Assumption, IL; son-in-law, Thurman Bush of Hendersonville, KY; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Preceding her in death are her husband; parents; daughter, Carolyn Bush; five brothers; and four sisters.
